Abstract

Recombinant Bovine Somatotropin (rbST) is one of the main biotechnologies widely disseminated and utilized worldwide due to its proven ability to increase milk production. rbST is a protein that stimulates protein synthesis and the release of somatomedin C (IGF-1), which are responsible for protein synthesis and muscle growth. The administration of rbST in dairy cows promotes an increase in milk production by approximately 10-15%, without negative effects on milk quality. Furthermore, a survey was conducted on properties during the internship period, demonstrating that the use of BST in production is generally favorable, confirming safety for use in dairy cows and has no adverse effects on human health. When used to enhance conception rates, it has been observed that embryonic attachments are positively affected by its application in dairy cows.
