Abstract

Polycystic Kidney Disease (DRP) or PKD (polycystic kidney disease) is a hereditary disease that encompasses the feline renal system, it causes progressive enlargement and formation of cysts in the kidneys, which can progress to chronic renal failure. The affections occur regardless of the animal's gender and because it is characterized as autosomal dominant, it tends to be diagnosed in all generations of lineages of animals that have the gene compatible with the disease. The prevalence of the disease is highest in Persian breed animals and their crosses. With the present case report, the objective was to report the clinical case of a feline, male, 10 years 26 old, mixed breed with a picture of polycystic kidney disease associated with grade four chronic kidney disease, the conclusive diagnosis was granted from abdominal ultrasound examination, measurement of renal biomarkers. As the prognosis of the disease is poor, the patient was hospitalized for intensive treatment, stabilization of physiological parameters and incessant monitoring.
